WHO WE ARE
Kempsey WI is known as a friendly and welcoming group, with a membership of between 30 and 40. Our convenient afternoon meetings are held in the village Youth Centre.

WHAT WE LOVE
Kempsey WI meetings are not too formal, and feature a mixture of really interesting expert talks interspersed with craft sessions, musical entertainment and shared-food social gatherings. Over the past year, topics covered by our speakers have ranged from the role of women at RAF Defford during radar test flying, to Victorian Christmas traditions, puppy raising for Guide Dogs, and a demonstration of how to plant hanging baskets. One meeting was held in our parish church, where members found out about many fascinating features and had a chance to try hand bells. For those who love reading, we have a popular book club. We also hold regular raffles and stalls selling books, jigsaws and greeting cards, often in aid of local charities. And of course, there's always time for a friendly chat with cake and a cuppa! Outside our meetings, members have regular ‘Ladies that Lunch’ get-togethers and organise theatre trips. Our President, Sharon Baker-Joyce, a former National Standard Bearer for the WRAC, has been featured in the national WI Life magazine!
